Had To Be Ivory Tops $58,400 Ontario-Bred Maturity; Country Boy 123 Returns
The final Sunday afternoon of exciting Quarter Horse racing at Ajax Downs before the track switches to Mondays, is September 1, the popular Race Day for United Way.

Fans who bring a backpack, school supplies or make a donation will receive a $2 betting voucher. The day will also feature raffle draws, silent auction, barbecue and family fun.

Two of the best older horses in Canada are also in action on Sunday. HAD TO BE IVORY heads a field of nine in the $58,400 Ontario Bred Maturity at 400 yards while 3-time Horse of the Year COUNTRY BOY 123 returns from his big win in Indiana Grand's Bradford Stakes to tackle four in an allowance race.

Had to Be Ivory, conqueror of Country Boy 123 in the Picov Maturity in May, has won 10 of his 12 career starts and starts from post nine under leading rider Tony Phillips against Ontario-breds in the Maturity which goes as race six.

In race nine, Country Boy 123, who got back into winning form in Indiana on July 6, starts from post one in the five horse field at 350 yards.

Both Had to Be Ivory and Country Boy 123 are getting their final starts before a year-end showdown in the Alex Picov Memorial Championship on Oct. 14.

Ajax Downs reverts to the Monday racing schedule on Sept. 9.
