A big 10-race card will complete the 2018 Quarter Horse racing season on Monday, Oct. 22 at
Ajax Downs. The track will also honour its loyal fans with
Customer Appreciation Day including giveaways and trivia prizes.
The eighth race of the day is the Mayor's Cup, an allowance race for the top Ontario-bred horses with the winner receiving an additional $1,500 from Ajax Mayor Steve Parish.
There are two Pick 4 wagers offered over the day of racing which includes several strong allowance races. Previous Horse of the Year stalwarts One Famous Glass (race 7) and Fiesty Icon (race 8) are both in action.
There is also an exciting battle for the Quarter Racing Owners of Ontario Jockey of the Year based on its points system. Cory Spataro, who has a career high 40 victories this year, is just two points ahead of Chelsey Willick (26 wins), 317 to 315. Brian Bell is a close third with 307 points going into Monday.
