DAVE MCINTYRE (in win picture with NO CERVEZA FOR YOU, he is at far left with sunglasses) owns Big Dog Racing with his wife Carol and the couple are in the process of building up their stable Hampton, Ontario stable. Among their winners this year were Ittakestwototango, Hammer Tyme and Shazamataz.
A carpenter by trade, Dave manages production for Grandau steel as his main job but they love the Quarter Horses.
Ontario Racing recently caught up to Dave as he was returning from a shopping spree in California and Oklahoma in a truck filled with horses:
OR - If you could have dinner with any well known person or celebrity, who would it be?
DM - I would have to say Donald Trump. I just left Oklahoma and he is very well supported there. He’s got some jaded views on issues and I'm not saying I would vote for him but I think it would be hilarious to talk to him.
OR - Do you have any spare time and if so, what do you like to do with it?
DM - Actually, right now we are all about the horses. We are now breeding Ontario-sired and Ontario bred horses. Carol does all the work with them and she is also an assistant to Jason Pascoe. Once we are done with the horses at the track or farm, we’re pretty much done. It is all consuming. Just getting away is a chore.
The farm is the most important thing now, we need to build Ontario's Quarter Horse industry and brings horses into it.
OR - What is the strangest thing you ate?
DM - We were at my in-laws in Florida and we had an appetizer: alligator, That was very interesting.
OR - You traveled a lot in your early work in steel production, what was the nicest place you saw or what is a place you would like to visit?
DM - I have to say, I saw a lot of places and I thnk that the prettiest place I have ever seen is Hampton, Ontario, where we live.
OR - Who would play Dave McIntyre in a movie?
DM - Well, certainly it would have to be someone much younger than I am now, shockingly handsome and physically fit!
